Se avete passato gli ultimi 32 anni a sognare di possedere le Nike Mags di Marty McFly, siete fortunati.
Un paio di scarpe futuristiche indossate da Michael J. Fox in Ritorno al futuro II saranno messe all’asta da Sotheby’s alla fine di questo mese. Queste rare sneakers sono dotate di una caratteristica di design molto importante e unica: la firma di Fox.
Il Mag ha fatto la sua prima apparizione nel secondo capitolo dell’amata trilogia di Ritorno al futuro nel 1989. Nel film, i McFly viaggiano nel tempo fino al 2015 e partecipano a una serie di attività futuristiche, tra cui indossare un paio di Nike con “power lacci” che si annodano. Per anni dopo l’uscita del film, sneakerhead e cinefili hanno pregato Nike di realizzare e vendere le scarpe alte. Tuttavia, il gigante delle calzature ha resistito, portando molti a soprannominare l’ambita reliquia degli anni ’80 la “scarpa più grande mai realizzata”.
Infine, nel 2011, Nike ha collaborato con il Michael J. Fox Center for Parkinson’s Research per trasformare l’icona cinematografica in una realtà per i collezionisti. Il brand ha prodotto solo 1.500 paia, tutte messe all’asta per beneficenza su eBay. La vendita ha raccolto poco meno di 10 milioni di dollari in 10 giorni, ovviamente tutti i proventi hanno contribuito a finanziare il lavoro della Fondazione.
Il drop in edizione limitata è stato un tale successo, tanto che Nike ha rilasciato un secondo paio di Mags nel 2016 e un’altra versione ridisegnata, soprannominata Adapt BB Mag, nel 2019.
Questo specifico paio di Mags taglia 13 sono della primissima serie e appartengono a un importante collezionista americano. I top grigio chiaro sono proprio come quelli del film e dispongono di un pannello LED ricaricabile che può illuminarsi fino a cinque ore per carica.
Sotheby’s prevede che le scarpe andranno all’asta tra i 30.000 e i 50.000 dollari.
