I Golden Globes 2022 hanno giudicato ed emesso il verdetto durante la serata senza star, red carpet, diretta tv o streaming. La trasmissione in diretta di quest’anno è stata cancellata a causa del contraccolpo sulla mancanza di diversità nelle nomination. È stata la Hollywood Foreign Press Association che, sui propri canali social e sul proprio sito ufficiale, ha annunciato i vincitori.
Sono due i film degni di nota che hanno portato a casa più di un premio a testa: Il potere del cane di Jane Campion nella categoria film drammatico e tra le commedie e film musicali West Side Story di Steven Spielberg.
Il western di Jane Campion ha vinto tre premi tra cui quello per la migliore regista e per il miglior attore non protagonista, il 25enne Kodi Smit-McPhee. Al il revival di Steven Spielberg spettano due premi grazie alla ventenne Rachel Zelger, nella parte di Maria, e ad Ariana DeBose, che interpreta Anita.
Novità dei Golden Globes è la star di Squid Game O Yeong-su che ha vinto il premio come miglior attore non protagonista in televisione per il suo ruolo nel dramma di successo di Netflix. L’attore sudcoreano ha 77 anni e non ha mai vinto un Golden Globe prima ed è il primo attore coreano nella storia a vincerne uno, meritato per la sua interpretazione di Oh II-nam, il Player 001.
Per l’Italia è delusione per È stata la mano di Dio: il film di Paolo Sorrentino, che gareggiava come migliore film in lingua straniera. È stato superato dal film giapponese Drive My Car. Nessun premio anche per il film d’animazione Disney ambientato in Liguria e diretto dall’italiano Enrico Casarosa, Luca, che è stato sconfitto da Encanto, l’altro film Disney in corsa.
