A January dedicated to solidarity, beauty and awareness at the Hilton Molino Stucky in Venice. The hotel, which has long been involved in initiatives of social importance, is now opening its spaces to the photographic exhibition "Outrageously beautiful” dedicated to the Pediatric Surgery Center of Emergency in Uganda designed by Renzo Piano: a health resort with a strong social impact and at the same time an architectural work that respects the environment and is perfectly integrated into the local landscape.
An important building, that of theHilton Molino Stucky – which marked the history of the last two centuries of Venice inside and outside its walls and which still characterizes today with its architectural outline the Giudecca – welcomes today the photographic exhibition of Marcello Bonfanti dedicated to an equally beautiful and important contemporary building, designed by an internationally renowned architect and destined to change the lives of many children and many families in Uganda.
The exhibition recounts the conception, construction and activities of the hospital Emergency in Entebbe. “Outrageously beautiful”, hence the title of the exhibition, is like Gino Strada he wished it was the center and how he had asked it to Renzo Piano. The Center for Pediatric Surgery Emergency it looks like this: a beautiful hospital surrounded by nature on the shore of Lake Victoria, at an altitude of 1.200 meters, built with sustainable materials and techniques.
The photographic exhibition of Marcello Bonfanti, edited by Paola Fortuna, tells the story of the hospital and its places also through the materials taken from the archives of Emergency and TAMassociati, and the texts of Gino Strada e Renzo Piano, and introduces the stories of the doctors and nurses who work in the hospital and the first patients treated.
"In the Pediatric Surgery Center EMERGENCY offers free and highly qualified assistance in a country where half of the population is under 15 and the right to health is not guaranteed for everyone - explains the president of Emergency Rossella Miccio –. It is a 'scandalously beautiful' hospital, as Gino Strada had requested of Renzo Piano, because beauty is part of the treatment and can contribute to improving the health of patients. This hospital is an act of restitution for equality."
Alessandro Cabella, Hilton Area Manager Italy, on the eve of the exhibition, declared: “We are proud and happy to host this exhibition to make our guests aware of such a beautiful and important initiative, which sees EMERGENCY and Renzo Piano together for Ugandan children. This is just a new step in a series of initiatives that have seen our hotels and the whole team active in supporting EMERGENCY for some time, whose commitment and effectiveness we appreciate in the many actions of solidarity and care put in place".
The exhibition, which can be visited by both hotel guests and external visitors, will be in theHilton Molino Stucky twigs 20 to January 26 2023, and will then be replicated in other structures of the group Hilton.
