The Torre Velasca is preparing to inaugurate a new chapter in its history. One of the iconic buildings of the Milanese skyline is now expanding its scope, combining its traditional residential and office functions with a structured project for high-end hospitality.
The first sign of this transformation came with the opening of Sushisamba, a panoramic restaurant on the 18th floor, while the heart of the hospitality project will take shape by the summer with the opening of 72 suites and apartments. The spaces, spread between the 19th and 25th floors for a total area of approximately 10 square meters, will be marketed under the Mett Suites & Residences brand and are part of the development by Sunset Hospitality Group, which has invested more than €40 million in the project, according to business press sources.
The move marks the operational entry into Italy of the international group founded in Dubai in 2011, which recorded revenues of approximately $400 million in 2025 and currently manages over one hundred hospitality assets in 26 countries. Growth has accelerated in recent years, starting with the global launch of new brands in 2021, including Mett, which debuted with its first property in Bodrum, Turkey. Expansion continued in 2024 with the majority acquisition of Maximal Concepts Holding, strengthening the group's presence in Asian markets, and more recently with the entry of Solutions Group, a UAE-based operator operating in the restaurant and entertainment sectors.
Completing the Torre Velasca offerings will be Madison House, a private club opening on the 17th floor, featuring private lounges and meeting rooms. Guests will also have access to a wellness area spanning over 1,000 square meters, located in the basement, which will include a gym and spa and is designed to serve the Mett residences.
As for the housing concept, the project envisions a dual purpose: approximately 50 units will be designated for short-term rentals with hotel services, while the remaining units, equipped with kitchens, will be designed for medium- to long-term stays of up to a year. This hybrid model addresses the new needs of urban living, encompassing tourism, business, and temporary housing.
"Italy represents a strategic market for us with a long-term vision," explained Antonio Gonzalez, founder of Sunset Hospitality Group with Ahmad Hafez. "In Milan, we are focusing on iconic developments that integrate dining, private clubs, hospitality, and residences, creating true lifestyle destinations embedded in the urban fabric." The group is already looking beyond the Lombardy capital, evaluating future opportunities in Rome and some of the country's top tourist destinations, from the Costa Smeralda to Sicily, the Amalfi Coast, and Capri.
With this project, the Torre Velasca confirms its position not only as an architectural icon, but also as a laboratory for new urban functions, capable of reinterpreting its role in the heart of contemporary Milan.
