Sardinia confirms its strategic centrality in the Italian portfolio of large hotel groups: Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG) has signed a long-term agreement to take over the operational management of the Arbatax Park Resort, one of the largest and most recognized tourist complexes on the island, along the eastern coast in Ogliastra.
The agreement, which will start since February 2026 with a lease agreement lasting , provides for a development and restyling program worth approximately 30 million euros completely dedicated to the structural and qualitative modernization of the accommodation offering, maintaining the sustainable philosophy that has always distinguished the resort at its core.
Located on a peninsula of over 60 hectares located in a nature reserve Overlooking the emerald sea of the Gulf of Arbatax, the Arbatax Park Resort has been internationally recognized several times for its commitment to environmental sustainability. In 2025, the complex was awarded the “World's Leading Eco Resort” and the best sensory garden in the world, confirming the primacy of the ecological experience in the global tourism panorama.
With about 900 rooms Spread across different areas of the hotel complex, the structure blends nature, widespread hospitality, and high-quality services, attracting not only the Italian public but also international guests seeking sustainable tourism immersed in the Mediterranean scrub.
For Falkensteiner, entry into the Arbatax Park Resort represents the second important presence in Sardinia, following the already established Falkensteiner Resort Capo Boi. The group aims to strengthen the brand's positioning on the island, integrating local expertise with its own service standards.
The renovations carried out during 2025—including the renovation of over 500 rooms in the Telis area—have already marked the first phase of the restyling. The resort will formally reopen in May 2026 under Falkensteiner management, while within the season summer 2027 the unification of existing structures into a single large product is planned “Club Funimation by Falkensteiner” with approximately 620 rooms and suites.
In parallel, the restyling of the Borgo Cala Moresca area will continue, with the goal of completing further work before the summer season. A special project concerns: Mount Turri, a panoramic portion of the village that will be transformed into a exclusive boutique hotel with approximately 17 suites, designed for an adult audience oriented towards quality and a premium stay experience.
The agreement with Falkensteiner represents not only a change in management, but a genuine strengthening of the tourism potential of the Ogliastra coast and Sardinia as a whole. With significant investments, international standards, and a clear focus on sustainability and quality, the Arbatax Park Resort project is positioned as a driving force for new high-profile hospitality trends on the island.
In a context where demand for sensory experiences, nature, and wellness continues to grow, the collaboration between a European hotel group and a resort already recognized for its sustainability could become a model that can be replicated elsewhere, confirming Sardinia as a mature and sought-after destination in the Mediterranean tourism landscape.
