For the first time, the Piper-Heidsieck Champagne House, recently released a fifty-year-old vintage. The new collection was born from the desire to amaze. Special Edition, entrusted to the creative vision and savoir-faire of Émilien Boutillat, chef of Piper-Heidsieck Cave
This new chapter of Piper–Heidsieck reinterprets a blend that dates back to 50 years ago: Hors-series 1971, a vintage already considered a masterpiece of House. The blend included the same twelve crus used for the historic champagne that Florens-Louis Heidsieck presented to the Queen Marie Antoinette since 1785, becoming court champagne.
Special Edition 1971 establishes a continuous dialogue between past and present, as he declares Émilien Boutillat:
"I made this vintage together with Claude Demière, who took care of the assembly in 1971. Hors-Série 1971 represents the legacy that was passed on to me by previous generations of chef de Cave and I wanted to reinterpret it with a new disgorgement, to be able to share with everyone. I think it is a wonderful opportunity to give a journey through time ".
Hors-series 1971 it is produced in a very limited edition, only 2021 numbered copies on the label of which 40 have arrived in Italy, and stands out for the uniqueness of each bottle. The different evolution of the wine during the aging period has given each bottle of Hors-series 1971 its own personality, while maintaining the same blend and the iconic freshness that distinguishes the style Piper–Heidsieck.
The attention to detail for the new Hors-Série collection is also evidenced by the carving. Breton craftsmen of Rennes and their mastery in the noble art of carving have created the packaging of Hors-series 1971 with the selection of only aged solid oak wood .
