A multifaceted and visionary figure, Andy Warhol He was an illustrator, director, producer, set designer, publisher, and television host. His career, which began in 1950s New York, redefined the perception of the artist as a media icon, transforming his face and fame into art.
"Serial Portraits” explores precisely this identity multiplication: from the first photographic self-portraits From his saturated-color silkscreens, Warhol observes and reinvents himself, playing with repetition and the mechanization of the artistic gesture — a language that, even today, speaks of visual culture and the society of the image.
The exhibition opens with a selection of pen drawings from the 1950s, among which Unidentified Male, which reveals a young, intimate and refined Warhol, attentive to line and form.
The journey continues with some of his most famous works: the passport photos of Self-Portrait (1963-64), the mysterious The Shadow (1981) and the series Ten Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century, a testament to his inexhaustible research into art, technology and popular culture.
The myth behind dark glasses
From behind the lenses of his famous glasses, Warhol continues to observe and influence the world. Through silkscreens, photographs, and self-portraits, the American artist demonstrates a unique ability to adapt, renew, and anticipate the languages of contemporary imagery.
