Como is preparing to welcome a new symbol of high-end hospitality: the historic building of the former Hotel San Gottardo, right in the city centre, will be transformed into an elegant five-star hotel designed by Radisson CollectionThe project, promoted by GBH Collection, a group already active on the lake with several prestigious structures, aims to restore an architectural jewel to the city and, at the same time, create significant economic and employment benefits.
A project between history and innovation
The redevelopment concerns the entire block between Piazza Cavour, Via Fontana and Via Cairoli, the heart of the city. The building will undergo a careful conservative restoration: the facades will be restored to their former splendor with colors and styles consistent with early twentieth-century architecture. The project not only enhances the neighborhood's historical identity but also enhances Como's tourist offerings.
The new hotel – Radisson Collection Palazzo San Gottardo – will feature 72 designer rooms and suites, some with stunning lake views. There will also be spaces dedicated to wellness and dining: a modern spa, a fully equipped gym, a bistro, a lounge bar, and a panoramic terrace restaurant. The project also includes a tranquil internal garden, designed to offer guests a relaxing oasis.
A piece of Radisson's strategy in Italy
The Radisson Collection Como is part of the hotel group's broader growth strategy, which plans to open seven new hotels in Italy by 2025. The Como project stands out for its architectural significance and the added value it will bring to the city's urban and cultural landscape.
Returning a long-disused building to the community represents a significant step towards a Como more livable, welcoming and attractive, ready to compete with the most renowned European tourist destinations.
