In the suggestive hilly landscape of Chianti Classico, a new product is born that promises to leave its mark: High tower, the new wine signed by a historic Tuscan company Castle of Castellina, the fruit of an ambitious project that looks to the future without forgetting tradition.
The name High tower It is a tribute to the imposing tower that dominates the estate, a symbol of vision and ambition. But it is also a metaphor for the work of precision and dedication, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, which aims to always bring the quality of Chianti Sangiovese higher.
A Sangiovese from high altitudes, from historic vineyards
With the 2023 vintage, a Chianti Classico DOCG debuts, obtained exclusively from Sangiovese grapes from vineyards over thirty years old, cultivated between 450 and 510 meters above sea level. In these ideal soil and climate conditions – soils rich in calcareous marl, excellent exposure and constant ventilation – the grapes reach excellent quality, giving an authentic wine that is deeply linked to the territory.
In the glass, High tower It presents itself with a brilliant ruby red. The olfactory profile is complex and harmonious: intense notes of ripe red fruit, currant, licorice and a delicate hint of vanilla emerge. On the palate it is round and soft, with a vibrant acidity, velvety tannins and a long aromatic persistence that recalls the classic nature of the great Tuscan Sangiovese.
A wine with a dual soul: elegance and versatility
Designed for those looking for a wine capable of combining structure, elegance and longevity, High tower it lends itself to multiple gastronomic pairings. Ideal with traditional Tuscan cuisine, it accompanies with great balance tasty first courses, red meats, game and mature cheeses, demonstrating a versatility that amplifies its appeal at the table.
A sustainable project, in the name of the Blue Tit
The label features the Great Tit, the bird that symbolizes the company's sustainable philosophy. This small bird, recognizable by its yellow and black plumage, is an integral part of the vineyard ecosystem: it feeds on insects and fallen grapes, contributing naturally to the health of the vines. Thanks to a QR code printed on the bottle, you can listen to the song of the Great Tit, a poetic touch that combines nature and technology.
2023 Vintage: Balance and Concentration
The 2023 harvest required care and attention. After a rainy spring, the hot but balanced summer ensured optimal ripening of the grapes, favored by significant temperature variations between day and night. The result? Healthy bunches, rich in aromas and with a perfect sugar-acidity balance.
The harvest, manual and selected, took place in the first week of October. The bunches, transported in crates, were delicately destemmed. The fermentation took place in steel, followed by a 7-month refinement in small French oak barrels and a further 7 months in the bottle before being put on the market.
A historical reality with an eye to the future
The estate extends for about 100 hectares, of which 50 are vineyards and 12 are olive groves, with an average altitude of 430 meters. Some vineyards, true jewels of Chianti, are over 45 years old. The yields, intentionally limited, favor quality over quantity. Soils of marl, galestro and clay, combined with an ideal microclimate, allow the production of wines with a strong character and great evolutionary capacity.
Leading the winemaking project is Alessandro Cellai, a student of the legendary Giacomo Tachis, who with skill and sensitivity carries forward a tradition of rigor, innovation and deep respect for the land.
