Pasticceria Cova will continue to operate at number 8, via Monte Napoleone in Milan at least until the natural expiration of the lease. In an official note, the brand, part of the LVMH group, clarified that the recent acquisition of the building by Kering – the luxury giant that owns brands such as Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta – does not call into question its presence in the historic location.
The building currently also houses Saint Laurent, currently under renovation, and a Prada boutique.
“With regard to the news spread by some media regarding a possible relocation of Pasticceria Cova following the purchase of the building in via Monte Napoleone 8 by Kering, we would like to clarify that these claims are not supported,” reads the official statement.
Founded in 1817, the historic pastry shop has not received any eviction requests or orders to leave its premises. The rental contract currently in force guarantees the continuity of the business without interruptions for several years.
In the future, if upon expiration of the agreement circumstances arise that make it impossible to maintain the current location, alternative solutions will be evaluated to ensure that a historic icon like Cova can continue its business in a prestigious location within the Quadrilatero della Moda, a neighborhood that has contributed to the growth and consolidation of the brand.
