In recent years, excessive smartphone use among young people has become an increasingly discussed phenomenon, with possible repercussions on mental health, academic performance and social relationships. The abuse of social media, in particular, is often associated with increasing levels of anxiety, stress and sleep disorders, affecting the psychological well-being of many young people, as highlighted by numerous studies. In response to this trend, a travel initiative was born designed to encourage a break from technology: a four-day experience completely offline, dedicated to reconnecting with reality without the use of a smartphone.
A journey without a smartphone, but with real emotions: the Offline Days are the occasion that SchoolZoo offers new generations to rediscover the beauty of being together. The program is full of activities such as e-bike adventure in the Tuscan hills, yoga at sunset, beach volleyball, sports tournaments and many other moments of pure freedom in company. Every memory will be immortalized with analog cameras. The phone? It will remain in the room, with only one moment a day for minimum and necessary use.
“We want to offer kids a different experience, which helps them rediscover the value of disconnecting,” he comments. Gabriele Maria Sada, CEO of ScuolaZoo. “Technology is part of our lives, but learning to balance its use is fundamental. With Offline Days we give the boys and girls who choose to travel with us an opportunity to rediscover the value of friendship, nature and sharing special moments. Living in the moment, without distractions and notifications, is a gift that we should all give ourselves more often”.
The initiative is part of a broader debate on social media addiction and digital wellbeing, increasingly central issues for companies and brands. “This is an initiative that does not demonise social media, but offers an opportunity for a more conscious use of them. The first two rounds of Offline Days are already a success, with places selling out like hot cakes. We hope that more and more brands will be interested in supporting projects related to digital wellbeing, helping to promote a more balanced lifestyle”, is the comment of Tommaso Tota, Marketing Manager of ScuolaZoo.
