The last Alba white truffle of the 2024/2025 season has flown to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Langhe and Monferrato Roero Tourism Board, the Alba International White Truffle Fair and the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour took part yesterday in the Piedmont Region's mission in the world tour of the Amerigo Vespucci, the historic sailing ship and training ship of the Navy, ambassador of Made in Italy in the world, which will stop at the Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina until January 30.
After the Singapore stop last October, the territory of the UNESCO hills, which in 2024 celebrated the tenth anniversary of its recognition as a world heritage site, returned to present itself united in a highly prestigious international context.
The event “Culture, landscapes and traditions of Piedmont, a unique journey in Langhe, Monferrato, Roero” was held after the institutional moment in the presence of the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto and, representing Piedmont, the vice president Elena Chiorino and the councilor for Tourism Marina Chiarelli.
Special guest was chef Alessandro Mecca of the restaurant at the Grinzane Cavour Castle who prepared, for the gala dinner organized on the dock of the Jeddah Yacht Club & Marina, his typical Piedmontese risotto, embellished with the last white truffle of Alba of the harvest season that ends on January 31st.
“Piedmont's participation in the Jeddah stage, after those in Tokyo, Singapore and Doha, is part of the strategy to promote Piedmont through its excellence – stated the president of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio – The Amerigo Vespucci ship, the most beautiful ship in the world, and the Villaggio Italia are the right place to tell the story of our splendid land and its products, starting with the truffle, which is in all respects our ambassador in the world and which we look at with interest with regards to the export of our companies and for the possibility of attracting tourists from abroad”.
“We delivered the last Alba white truffle of the season to the Commander of the Amerigo Vespucci, Giuseppe Lai, in the final stage of the ship's world tour – explains the director of the Fair Stefano Mosca – a great honor to be a partner of the Piedmont Region in two of the stages of the world tour of the jewel of the Italian Navy. Once again our truffle was an ambassador of Piedmont and Italy, alongside great excellences of our country”.
“Thanks to the Piedmont Region for involving our territory in such a precious and important opportunity to create international relations - says the president of the Langhe, Monferrato and Roero Tourism Board, Mariano Rabino - the calendar of promotional events abroad has already seen us as protagonists, in this first month of 2025, in the Netherlands, Austria and, starting tomorrow, in Istanbul. In Saudi Arabia we had the opportunity to tell the story of a unique, lively and welcoming tourist destination, which the numbers increasingly confirm to be a desired destination all over the world”.
“The cuisine of chef Alessandro Mecca and the story of our territory made the stopover of the Amerigo Vespucci in Jeddah even more memorable, the last in international waters before returning to the Mediterranean” – adds the director of thePiedmont Regional Wine Shop Cavour, Marco Scudieri.
