Sold in 2021 and delivered in the summer of 2024, Diamond Binta is the latest masterpiece from the renowned Genoa-based shipyard Tankoa Yachts. This 58-meter superyacht, presented to great acclaim at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, embodies a perfect fusion of innovation and elegance. Built with a “boutique” construction philosophy, every detail – from the sophisticated exterior to the refined interior – reflects bespoke craftsmanship and impeccable attention to quality.
Diamond Binta is a full-custom yacht created for an owner already familiar with the fine craftsmanship of Tankoa Yachts, having previously owned the 50-meter S501 Binta d'Or. The vision behind the creation of Diamond Binta was precise and ambitious: to build a larger yacht, designed for long-range cruising, with a unique and distinctive style that fully expresses the personality and needs of the owner.
To realize the owner's vision, the shipyard collaborated once again with Francesco Paszkowski Design, which was able to translate into reality an elegant and timeless mood, perfectly expressed in both the exterior and interior. Thanks to Tankoa's boutique approach and a relentless pursuit of qualitative perfection, the result is a harmonious fusion of form and function, where refined design marries exceptional functionality.
The collaboration between the shipyard, the owner and the design team proved to be fundamental, generating a tangible synergy in every detail of the final product. We did not start from a blank sheet of paper, but from an evolution of the tastes and aspirations of an owner who was already a loyal customer of the shipyard. Francesco Paszkowski, with the collaboration of Margherita Casprini for the interiors, guided the entire project with mastery, giving life to a vessel that perfectly embodies the vision and ambitions of the owner.
“Our design philosophy for Diamond Binta was driven by the desire to meet the owner’s requirements, exceeding expectations to create a welcoming environment, characterized by discreet elegance,” explains Francesco Paszkowski. “We placed particular emphasis on the interplay between architectural forms, the extensive use of wood and a neutral color palette, with the aim of creating harmonious spaces with timeless appeal.”
The shipyard’s technical expertise, combined with its state-of-the-art facilities, ensured a smooth and rapid transition from design approval to construction.
“Diamond Binta, our first 580-meter T58 yacht, perfectly represents why discerning owners choose to build with us and remain part of the Tankoa family as their needs evolve,” says Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa Yachts. “This yacht is a celebration of our ability to blend engineering and craftsmanship, turning an owner’s dreams into reality, often exceeding their expectations. Her sophisticated and innovative design fully reflects the philosophy of excellence that drives Tankoa.”
Diamond Binta takes some of the hallmarks of modern yachts – such as the aft beach club, panoramic gym on the upper deck, main deck owner’s suite, garage for a 9m limousine tender and upper deck helipad – and reinterprets them to further elevate the concept. The spacious beach club includes a relaxation area with lounge and a glass-walled spa area, which lets in natural light when the side terraces are lowered and the hatch door is open. A skylight from the main deck also adds extra light to this popular area.
The owner’s passion for engineering is evident in a remarkable detail on the lower deck: a central guest corridor, with expansive panoramic windows overlooking an impeccable open engine room, directly connects the beach club with the guest cabins.
Diamond Binta accommodates up to 12 guests in five cabins, including two with Pullman beds. The full-beam master suite, located forward on the main deck, includes a lounge area and a study with a fold-down terrace. Unique design details can be seen here, such as the asymmetrical patterns in the carpets and ceilings, and the attention to detail in the furnishings and finishes.
The interiors feature extensive use of oak in a variety of finishes – streaked, polished, brushed and dark brown with a distinctive tatami texture for the floors. The neutral colour palette, ranging from dove grey to more intense tones, creates a serene and elegant environment. Fine materials such as leather, metal and glass further enrich the décor. Satin metal profiles decorate the walls of the living areas, while the owner’s desk is finished in light cream leather. Textured leather panels, in wet sand tones, embellish the corridors, while stiff leather is used for the headboards and bed bases, adding tactile refinement.
Marble surfaces add luxurious touches: Cappuccino decorates the tables on the main deck, while Calacatta enhances the corridors. Botticino is used for the dining room floors, and Fior di Bosco embellishes the bathrooms. Smoked glass elements add modernity, as in the doors of the VIP bathrooms and the master stateroom.
Almost all the furnishings on board have been custom-designed, including the coffee tables in the living areas, the owner’s suite, the beach club lounge, the desk in the owner’s office and the galley counter. These exclusive elements are harmoniously integrated with high-end furniture from renowned brands, such as sofas, armchairs, dining tables and chairs by Minotti, which furnish the living areas on the main and upper decks, as well as the owner’s suite. Poltrona Frau stools add a touch of refinement to the galley, which serves a dual role: as an operational area for the crew and as a space dedicated to the owner and his guests – owners being passionate about food.
The interior reflects Tankoa’s boutique and innovative approach, breaking away from traditional nautical design. Soft, rounded lines replace classic geometric shapes, creating a more fluid and organic aesthetic. Functional elements have also been reinterpreted: the coffee tables, for example, feature original and playful shapes, uniting separate pieces into a harmonious whole. Low cabinets, characterised by rounded corners, are finished with black lacquered oak slats, while the light grey oak walls of the owner’s office curve elegantly, forming stage-like partitions that discreetly define the spaces. Sofas and armchairs with rounded shapes integrate perfectly with the circular rugs placed beneath them.
The ceilings, as Paszkowski points out, also play a central role in the design. “We combined pearl-grey lacquered panels with grey-brown panels, enhanced by integrated LED strips that run along curved and irregular beams at the edges of the ceiling, highlighting key areas such as the living areas on the main and upper decks,” he explains. “This careful lighting design highlights the rounded sofas, creating an intimate atmosphere even in the conversation area of the owner’s suite.”
On the fly deck, a swimming pool with integrated spa jets, developed in-house by the shipyard, is flanked by a large lounge area and an alfresco dining area aft. The midship section houses an enclosed and protected gym, with spectacular views to motivate guests during workouts. Glass doors, both fore and aft, can be left open to create an airy indoor/outdoor area, or closed to transform into a climate-controlled and shaded retreat. A custom bar and two round sun loungers round out the onboard amenities.
The helm station has also been designed with special attention to reflect its technical nature. The design team took inspiration from automotive aesthetics, using dark brown leather with subtle red details to achieve a refined balance between elegance and functionality. This masculine and understated atmosphere distinguishes the helm station from the rest of the yacht's interior, highlighting its technical and specialized character.
With the end of 2024, a new chapter in the history of Diamond Binta opens: she will accompany her owners towards new horizons, offering comfort, elegance and functionality during her first cruises to the United States. Here she will make her American debut in 2025, on the occasion of the Palm Beach International Boat Show.
