The Taycan model range has never been so extensive: with three body variants, all-wheel and rear-wheel drive, and Porsche E-Performance engine outputs ranging from 300 to 760 kW, a total of sixteen versions are available.
The Taycan 4 sports sedan has recently been added (available starting at 110.652 euros2) and the new edition of the Taycan GTS, with prices starting at €153.739 (Taycan GTS sports sedan) and €154.753 (Taycan GTS Sport Turismo), respectively. The three new options complete the Taycan range and can be ordered now, with dealership availability scheduled for early 2025. New body colors are also available for all Taycan models. In the Legends category, the colors Slate Grey Neo and Pale Blue metallic have been added to complete the range, while the Purple Sky metallic shade enriches the Dreams category.
“With the very broad range of Taycan models, we are responding to various customer wishes and mobility needs. Our latest three new models exemplify this extraordinary range expansion,” said Kevin Giek, Vice President of the Taycan Product Line. “The first generation of the Taycan GTS was already the sporty flagship of the model line, positioning itself between the Taycan 4S and the Taycan Turbo. And its re-release is no exception. At the other end of the range, the Taycan 4 sports sedan combines the high efficiency of the entry-level model with the outstanding handling of all-wheel drive.”
The three new models naturally include all the numerous design, technology and equipment improvements that Porsche made to the Taycan at the beginning of the year. The electric sports car surpasses its predecessor in almost every respect. The new versions are more powerful, have a longer range, accelerate faster and charge faster, and ensure greater stability. All versions of the Taycan come with even more extensive standard equipment and include the latest generation of the Porsche Driver Experience.
The extraordinary increase in performance and efficiency is due to a number of factors: an advanced powertrain that includes a new rear-axle motor with up to 80 kW more power than its predecessor on all models, a modified pulse inverter with optimised software, more powerful batteries, revised thermal management, a new-generation heat pump and a modified recuperation and all-wheel drive strategy. At 800-volt DC charging stations, for example, the vehicle can be charged with up to 320 kW. The maximum recuperation capacity when decelerating from high speeds has been increased to up to 400 kW.
New edition of the Taycan GTS: versatility in a sporty key
GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport. Since the Porsche 904 Carrera GTS from 1963, these three letters have enjoyed a special reputation among Porsche enthusiasts. Now, the Taycan range also features a variant bearing this legendary acronym. Two, to be precise: the new Taycan GTS is offered both as a sports sedan and as a Sport Turismo.
As a versatile sports car, the Taycan GTS impresses with its overboost power of up to 515 kW when using Launch Control – 75 kW more than its predecessor. With the new push-to-pass function3 of the standard Sport Chrono Package, a boost of up to 70 kW can be activated for 10 seconds at the push of a button. In the Taycan GTS, the push-to-pass function also has a particularly sporty character, as the torque is brought up to Launch Control levels at low speeds. As in the Taycan Turbo GT, the boost is indicated by a countdown timer in the instrument cluster and displayed dynamically by animated rings on the speedometer.
The Taycan GTS sports sedan and Taycan GTS Sport Turismo reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3,3 seconds, which is 0,4 seconds faster than their predecessors. The sports sedan completes the sprint from 10,4 to 0 km/h in just 200 seconds, which is 1,6 seconds faster than before. The range has also improved by more than 120 kilometres and now stands at 628 kilometres according to the WLTP cycle.
To match its exhilarating character, the GTS has been given a more distinctive sound profile, reminiscent of the Taycan Turbo S and differentiating it from the other Taycan models.
The exterior and interior are equally distinctive. The numerous details in black or anthracite grey on the exterior are typical of a GTS. Compared to the predecessor model, the Taycan GTS stands out with its front fascia and the Sport Design rear apron with inserts painted in black (high-gloss). Black (high-gloss) is also used for the base of the exterior mirrors. Both the standard 20-inch Taycan Turbo S Aero Design wheels and the optional 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels are painted exclusively in anthracite grey on the GTS.
Many of the interior materials have been taken from the Taycan Turbo GT models. For example, the Taycan GTS models come with large surfaces in Race-Tex sports fabric and smooth black leather elements as standard. Also included are the adaptive Sports seats Plus (18-way electrically adjustable), the GT multifunction sports steering wheel with mode switch and steering wheel heating, and the Sport Chrono package with push-to-pass function and track mode. The GT multifunction sports steering wheel, already featured in the Taycan Turbo GT models, is optionally available in Race-Tex black. It includes two mode switches and paddle shifters for the push-to-pass function and recuperation. In addition to Carmine Red, the optional GTS interior package is now also available in Neo Slate Grey. The Taycan GTS logo appears on the instrument cluster, power meter and start-up graphic. The BOSE® surround sound system is included as standard.
The GTS-specific chassis and optional rear-axle steering add a particularly sporty touch. The adaptive air suspension with PASM electronic damping control is combined with the PVT Plus torque distribution system as standard. The Porsche Active Ride suspension control system with GTS-specific tuning is available as an option. In dynamic driving situations, it ensures almost perfect contact with the road thanks to optimum and individual distribution of the loads on each wheel. Porsche Active Ride also increases ride comfort in everyday driving.
New Taycan 4: An efficient all-wheel drive champion
Anyone who wanted to combine the high efficiency of the Taycan with all-wheel drive has already found what they were looking for in the Cross Turismo. Now Porsche is also offering this variant as a sports sedan. In terms of performance, the new Taycan 4 mirrors the Taycan: depending on whether the standard Performance battery or the optional Performance battery Plus is installed under the body, the result is an overboost output of up to 300 kW or 320 kW when using Launch Control.
The range also depends on the battery type. With the Performance Battery you get 559 kilometers, while with the Performance Battery Plus the Taycan 4 can travel up to 643 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. This figure makes the two versions the undisputed range champions among the all-wheel drive models and places them just 35 kilometers below the values of the corresponding Taycan models.
With an electric motor on each front and rear axle, the Taycan 4 offers greater driving stability and better traction than the rear-wheel drive Taycan. This is reflected in the acceleration figures: the Taycan 4 takes exactly 4,6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Despite weighing 80 kilograms more, it is two-tenths of a second faster than its rear-wheel drive sibling.
Porsche has already improved the all-wheel drive system over the life of the model. Naturally, the new Taycan 4 also benefits from these efficiency-enhancing optimizations. This means that the front electric motor is electrically decoupled when traction, driving dynamics and driving stability allow. It is then switched back on within milliseconds when needed, for example during acceleration or recuperation.
On the outside, the extensive standard equipment includes 19-inch Taycan Aero wheels and black brake calipers, as well as LED headlights with Matrix technology. Porsche Traction Management (PTM) and adaptive air suspension with PASM electronic damper control are also included as standard.
The interior features comfort seats in the front (with eight-way electrical adjustment), partial leather upholstery in Black, the Dark Silver colour package, a multifunction sports leather steering wheel, door sill finishers in silver brushed aluminium and the Sound Package Plus as standard. The partial leather trim is also available in Slate Grey and in a two-tone version of Black/Crayon Beige.
