Bulgari has unveiled the new Laurent Grasso x Octo Finissimo watch, an exclusive creation that stands out for its design infused with a deep midnight blue, which envelops both the case and the bracelet. This intense blue, which plays with light, recalls the serenity of a night sky, a starry night or an aurora borealis, and is the fruit of a collaboration between Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bulgari's director of watch design, and the artist Laurent Grasso.
The model is born from the fusion of two essential shapes: the circle of the dial, perfectly inserted in the octagon of the case. The Octo Finissimo, an icon of the maison, takes collectors on a cosmic journey, combining the talent of the designer and the artist in a unique vision. Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani defines the watch as a symbol of “space” rather than “time”, exploring metaphysical concepts through design.
The minimalist design of this timepiece reflects the world of Laurent Grasso, who signs the case back. For over twenty years, the French artist has explored the invisible and the intangible through different media. At the center of the dial, a cloud projects iridescent reflections, creating a mysterious and elusive effect. Grasso explains: “Clouds, unique and magical formations, diffuse light in a thousand colors thanks to suspended water droplets. This phenomenon fascinates me and the dialogue with Fabrizio began by trying to recreate it on the dial.”
The three hands seem to float on the dial, as if suspended in the darkness. Grasso's work challenges the boundaries of perception, asking whether what we see is reality or illusion. The artist, passionate about science and the cosmos, wanted to bring his vision to watchmaking, a field that combines the mystery of the stars with the precision of mechanics. Each of his creations is a machine for observing the world in a new and poetic way, and the cloud silkscreened on the dial, a symbol of dreams, evokes one of the central themes of his artistic work.
Crafted from titanium and treated with blue PVD, the watch has a uniform matte finish and is limited to 200 pieces worldwide. The Bulgari Octo Finissimo collection is an ever-evolving series of watches that has broken numerous records, from the 2014 Manual Tourbillon to the 2024 Cosc-certified Octo Finissimo Ultra, each one marking a new milestone in the pursuit of excellence.
