From 7 September at 6 October 2024 in Hall of Coats of Arms of Palazzo Malinverni in Legnano an installation curated by the Gianfranco Ferré Research Center of the Polytechnic of Milan will be open to visitors, aimed at tellingand a piece of the history of Italian fashion in the exhibition “Gianfranco Ferré between reason and feeling”.
The installation, curated by architect Martino Berghinz, inspired by the typical codes of the Ferré language, it is based on clean lines and pure geometries accentuated by the black-white contrast, and acts as a counterpoint to the refined opulence of the Sala degli Stemmi. The linear rigor of the display of the drawings, neatly arranged on perimeter panels, is contrasted by the dynamic play of the shirts, grouped on a circular platform and moved by rotating mechanisms that give the exhibition an ironic and light tone.
The drawings and shirts on display are part of the designer's archive, recognized as a heritage "of particular cultural interest" by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities - Archival Superintendence for Lombardy, and today part of the Historical Archives system of the Polytechnic of Milan. The Gianfranco Ferré Research Center, Digital Innovation for the Creative and Cultural Industries was established in December 2021 by the Polytechnic of Milan following the Ferré family's donation of the archive and headquarters of the historic Gianfranco Ferré Foundation. Under the coordination of the Fashion in Process Research Laboratory of the Design Department, the Research Center brings together the technical-scientific know-how and design culture characterizing the identity of the Polytechnic of Milan with the tangible and intangible heritage relating to history, culture and techniques of fashion preserved and enhanced by the Gianfranco Ferré Foundation since 2008.
