“Private real estate development has an irreplaceable role in mitigating the housing emergency and addressing the problem of urban regeneration in a city like Milan which, despite only 183 square kilometers of municipal territory, has over 200 areas that are still degraded and abandoned”.
This is the position that emerged from the meeting organized by ASPESI Real Estate Union – the Milanese Association of real estate development and promotion companies – of all the real estate companies – associated and not associated with ASPESI – which carry out real estate investment and transformation operations in Milan, to examine the very serious situation in which the sector finds itself following the recent judicial provisions and the consequent measures taken by the Board and the management structure of City of Milan.
It was unanimously agreed that the continuation of the block on real estate recovery operations would compromise urban regeneration, prevent savings in land consumption, determine a further increase in house prices and rents, in a word, the very future of Milan.
More than 50 large, medium, small, Milanese, national and international real estate companies have joined the initiative organized in the rectory of the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio, all extremely concerned about the latest events, which are part of an already blocked Milanese situation in the real estate sector by the explosion of construction costs and the strong growth in interest rates.
To this end, the Assembly mandated the Association to set up a select committee of representatives of the real estate companies participating in the initiative to agree and launch the appropriate study and communication initiatives aimed at presenting correctly and in a documented form to public opinion publishes - and therefore to the institutions - the reality of the problem and its possible solutions, outside the caricatural deformations current in the current debate.
