The independent brand Maya Atelier seems to have made a powerful enemy, a historic brand with enormous influence and which would have accused him of plagiarism after examining some of the atelier's products that appeared in French and Canadian magazines.
It is Moncler, a French-Italian fashion house famous for its luxury down jackets, and the reasons for the rivalry with the emerging brand would be precisely the logo. of the latter, too similar to Moncler's em, and the name same as the brand: the names Maya e Moncler Maya, in fact, have been owned by the maison since 2018 and 2019 respectively.
In particular, Moncler accuses the Bolognese brand of not possess any novel element and to be "too similar from a visual, phonetic and conceptual point of view“; the main concern of the Franco-Italian brand seems to be one possible confusion among consumers who, mistakenly, could "believe that the designated products come from Moncler or that there is a collaborative relationship"
The owner and founder of Maya Atelier is Maya Salimbeni, a twenty-six year old designer originally from the province of Bologna, opened his own business following a degree in Fashion design al Politecnico di Milano and some work experiences in the field of fashion and design; the Salimbeni brand aims to create artisanal models starting from organic waste materials.
“I am shocked and saddened. I am young, I have just approached work and I find a series of bollards placed by a giant on the road. There are already a thousand difficulties, I wonder what trouble what I do could possibly cause", declared Salimbeni al Corriere di Bologna.
