“All existence is a transition of state: we too, like matter, are subjected to pressures and changes in the external environment, which push us to transform ourselves continuously. The challenge is to always remain ourselves ".
This is the philosophy behind the 18 works on display in show "Passages of state“, An exhibition reserved for the most iconic works of Paula Pieces, artist and sculptor formed in the Milan of the 80s under the wing of the famous Marisa Merz, who after 35 years of career tells his vision to Gaggenau Design Elements.
To act as a common thread to the narration of "Passaggi di Stato" is theimportance of the gesture, understood as design tool and at the same time of realization of the final work: the first works that led her to success, such as Original nuclei (late 80s), they simulated a continuous enveloping spiral, an internal chase of introspective research, while the most recent, created from the beginning of the year XNUMX, represent an opening of the original spiral, in which the movement is completely directed towards the outside; an example of this transition is the cycle With both hands.
With the changing shapes, the relationship with colors, shades and hints has also changed radically: after a bitter rejection of light, the artist's works have slowly opened towards one new brightness, matura e sought after.
"From a ball to a nest, Paola Pezzi's art thus begins to reflect onimpact of the self on others, on the meaning of doing and being an artist. Finally, his most recent art gives off a contagious energy: spirals and windings follow one another in different materials that move in space, giving it "life". The works are rarely contained in a square shape, and one gets the feeling that the same works are in a movement, in a constant becoming generated by the explosion of energy from which they originated ”explains the curator of the exhibition, Sabino Maria Frassa.
The personal exhibition of Paola Pezzi al Gaggenau Design Elements (Corso Magenta 2) in Milan will also remain open on Saturdays (10: 00-19: 00) e Sunday (10:00 - 13:00).
