Wednesday, the Swiss maison Hublot unveiled two new tourbillon watches that capture all seven colors of the rainbow. Called Big Bang Integral Tourbillion Rainbow, the timepieces from 43 mm available in 18K yellow gold o White gold are composed of almost 36 carat of various gems. The 484 stones set in baguettes on the watch evoke the seven shades of the rainbow. Among them are rubies, amethysts, topaz and tsavorites, as well as pink, yellow and orange sapphires.
Both high jewelery tourbillons are powered by the movement Hublot self-winding HUB6035, which reaches 72 hours of power reserve.
The dial also features a micro-rotor a 12 hours which spells out the name of Hublot, but according to the CEO Riccardo Guadalupe, it is a purely aesthetic feature. “The goal of Hublot has long been to combine tradition with innovation; therefore, we wanted to present a classic tourbillon in a modern way by inserting a micro-rotor on the side of the dial, ”he says in a note.
The creation of the watches Big Bang Integral Tourbillion Rainbow requires 1.200 hours, during which the watchmaker scrupulously selects the stones for their color and sets them according to an intricate model of degradation. While the new watches may be the first of Hublot featuring a huge number of gems for both the case and the bracelet, the house's rainbow watch debuted in 2017.
Known as Big Bang Unico Rainbow King Gold, the historical model from 45 mm featured a similar range of colored gemstones from blue topaz to yellow sapphires. That model, however, was paired with a leather strap rather than an integrated bracelet with gems.
